You may be sure you want to permanently put a mark on your body - but are you indeed ready? Any first-timer should know there are a lot of parameters to take into consideration. This article is intended to give you a few pointers before taking the big step, so give it a look before you make the decision.
Firstly, you have to be 100% sure of the design you have chosen because you can't really do much about it after the deed is done, can you? Before you commit to any particular tatto you have to be convinced that you will still like it in a year or two, maybe even a decade. So probably you should think twice before tattooing a Mickey Mouse on your ankle. If you already have a tatoo, or more, the selection process might be easier, but it is still a big decision, so think it through. Whether you choose some lyrics, a portrait, a dragon and so on is totally up to you, but make sure that it is something meaningful and that it has a story behind it. You don't want to get a tattoo just out of boredom or because everybody else has one. It's got to be personal.
Equally as important, if not even more, is the body part you choose to adorn with a tattoo. There are a few factors to take into consideration, such as: your work dress code - because, there are certain companies that do not allow their employees to show off their tattoos; your personality, meaning that if you are more discreet person you will probably want a less visible tattoo and so forth on the same way. The overall aspect of the design you are looking for is also important because certain shapes, sizes and even colors go better with certain body parts.
Another thing to take into consideration is the artist you choose. If you already have other tattoos, you probably already have an artist you prefer. If it's your first time, your safest choice would be to elect an artist whose work you are familiar with, either you know somebody who has had work done by them or you have studied their portfolio. There are hundreds of forums and website that provide reviews for tattoo parlors, so, why not give them a look? You will get a better idea from talking to people that already have tattoos. Whatever your reason is for getting a tattoo, whether you are celebrating your love, your success in life, whether you're commemorating a loved one or simply want one for the esthetic appeal, make sure you are committed to your decision and that you have done your research well. Removing a tattoo is no piece of cake and more than often, it leaves signs; so, you have to be sure that this is indeed what you want, because it's going to be there for a long, long while. If you have made your mind up, don't hesitate and go for it.
